LAST WEEKEND BEFORE TARLETON SCARECROW FESTIVAL!
Volunteers are needed for help on the day, plus donations of tombola prizes will be very welcome. Thanks to all who have donated prizes so far. We still need your help, especially in the afternoon – please sign the list in the porch.
‘WIMBLEDON’ COFFEE MORNING NEXT SUNDAY
The theme of next week’s Coffee Morning is ‘Wimbledon’ so what better way to start celebrating all the excitement of SW19 than with strawberries and cream. Please join us after Mass next Sunday. Everyone is most welcome.
HELP WITH THE PRESBYTERY GARDEN AREA FOR NEXT WEEKEND (SCARECROW FESTIVAL)
Dave & Tina Kerrigan have been working hard, but there’s a lot to do, so please consider giving an hour of your time to help clear some of the weeds that are strangling our lovely planting in the area in front of the presbytery. Every bit of help makes a huge difference. Many thanks to Dave & Tina and to others who have been working hard.
PARISH LUNCH WITH BISHOP HABILA: Sunday 21 July
Only 10 have signed up so far, but many more are needed to welcome him to our parish. He’s looking forward to meeting as many parishioners as possible. Tickets (£5) from Vivienne.
A LOVELY DONATION
A very kind and generous donation has been left for us, that arrived anonymously through the presbytery door last week. Thank you so much! It would be great if the kind donor could indicate how it is to be used, or what they had in mind for it. Please either pop a note (anonymously, if appropriate) through the presbytery letter box, or have a quiet word with Fr John – in absolute confidence.
LOST PROPERTY!
There are an ever-increasing number of personal items that have been left in church over the last few months. Please check the table in the porch, to reclaim, before they go off for recycling. Many thanks.
MASS INTENTONS
Mass intentions are welcome, not just for our dear departed, but for any other occasion eg in thanksgiving, successful outcome (exams / operation), wedding / anniversary blessings. Please write your name and intention, with the preferred date – if applicable – on a piece of paper and place in an envelope, along with your offering, either in the weekly offertory basket or through the presbytery door. Every effort will be made to find a date as near as possible.
DISUSED GLASSES / SPECTACLES
Please have a rummage at home and bring old prescription glasses along. They can be used by opticians in Africa to help local communities.
OFFERTORY ENVELOPES + GIFT AID
If you are a taxpayer then you can easily help the parish to claim 25% extra on top of every donation you make. Eg: a donation of £5 per week would result in £6.25 going to the church. Filling in a simple form to register your name and address means we can claim an additional 25% of your gift. If you are able to help, please collect a form from the porch on your way out today, complete and return to the Parish Office.
In addition, you may wish to consider using an offertory envelope (they are free and use re-cycled paper) in which to make your weekly donation. It’s akin to ‘wrapping up your gift’ for Our Lord! Again, please contact the Parish Office if you’d like to start using them.

MUSICAL TREAT FOR THE WEEK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRQK4jfyYJU
This week’s treat comes from a less well-known German composer of the 16th century, Richard Dering. Here’s his beautiful motet for two sopranos: Duo Seraphin – truly sounding like angels’ voices.

OFFERTORY DONATIONS
Many thanks to generous parishioners who have sent in donations to our churches. Your thoughtfulness is very much appreciated.
Instead of putting money in offertory envelopes each week, those who are able to make an offering are asked to complete a Standing Order Mandate for your bank, from either your parish office. We can email the document to you, if you wish, so that you can print off, complete and send to your bank.
Alternatively, you may still wish to write a cheque (payable to ‘Our Lady Help of Christians Church’ ) and post to the presbytery with a covering letter and one offertory envelope for gift aid purposes.
