THE FEAST OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, ETERNAL HIGH PRIEST – Thursday 23 May, 10am
This feast always falls on the first Thursday after Pentecost. It focuses on Jesus as High Priest He is the mediator between God and humanity. Jesus is also the Victim that is offered, for the salvation of the world. We too share by offering up ourselves and all that goes into our daily lives. Paul’s letter to the Hebrews says: “Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet is without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need” (Hebrews 4: 14-16).
MESSAGE FROM MARY’S MEALS: PRAY IN MAY WITH MARY’S MEALS

Please have a rummage at home and bring old prescription glasses along. They can be used by opticians in Africa to help local communities.
OFFERTORY ENVELOPES + GIFT AID
If you are a taxpayer then you can easily help the parish to claim 25% extra on top of every donation you make. Eg: a donation of £5 per week would result in £6.25 going to the church. Filling in a simple form to register your name and address means we can claim an additional 25% of your gift. If you are able to help, please collect a form from the porch on your way out today, complete and return to the Parish Office.
In addition, you may wish to consider using an offertory envelope (they are free and use re-cycled paper) in which to make your weekly donation. It’s akin to ‘wrapping up your gift’ for Our Lord! Again, please contact the Parish Office if you’d like to start using them.
