ARCHDIOCESE PRAYER FOR UKRAINE
Heavenly Father, hear our prayers for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine.
We ask for peace for those who need peace, reconciliation for those who need reconciliation and comfort for all who don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
We ask for you to be with all – especially children who are suffering as the crisis in Ukraine deteriorates. For those who are anxious and fearful. For those who are bereaved, injured or who have lost their lives. And for those who have lost loved ones. Lord, hear our prayers.
We also pray for wise actions from global leaders – who have the power not only to start wars, but to stop them too.
Father in heaven, we cry out for an end to this crisis and for mercy, peace, and truth – that the healing power of your love will restore peace, families and communities.
Amen
CORPUS CHRISTI
He fed them with the finest wheat and satisfied them with honey from the rock.

OUR PRESBYTERY GARDEN – 25 JUNE 2pm to 4.30pm
Now that the large shrub near the front door has been removed, we’re planning to create a small parish community garden area. Fliers are available with more details on this and information on how you can donate a plant (or two) from your own garden. Please sign the list in the porch if you can help out.
We are appealing for peat-free compost for the site. Please contact the Parish Office if you have any contacts with local farms/ garden centres who would be able to supply us with the equivalent of 15 bags, at cost price.
TARLETON WALKING DAY 10 JUNE
Thank you to everyone who supported this special event in any way.
We would love it if more children could be involved next year, so keep checking the newsletter for more details on this soon!
PARISH FOODBANK
A message from Rev Dave Dickinson at All Saints, Hesketh Bank: A BIG Thank You to very kind and generous parishioners who continue to support local families who are really struggling with food poverty. We now know of 12 individual families in addition to the families already being supported. Your donations are really helping to make life a bit more bearable.
HESKETH BANK & TARLETON HELPERS – OUR LOCAL RESIDENTS’ CHARITY
Our Lady’s has hosted a number of events recently for the HB & T Helpers – an entirely self-funded charity working to support local residents in a variety of ways. The Helpers have been nominated to receive an award to set up a Dementia Choir / Café. A public vote for local projects (including the Helpers) takes place at The Hub, Greaves Hall in Banks on Saturday 17 June, 12 noon to 4pm. All residents are welcome to this free event where they can vote for the projects they want to see in their local community. Your chance to have a say! Please see further details on the fliers in the porch – and go along, with a friend (or two!).
FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE: MUSIC FOR A KING
The joint choirs of Liverpool Cathedral & Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral will join together on Saturday 8 July at 19.30 in a festive programme of ‘Music for a King’ in this coronation year.
Coronation classics by Handel (Zadok the Priest), Parry (I was Glad) and Walton (Crown Imperial) are presented alongside Charles-Marie Widor’s Messe à Deux Chœurs et Deux Orgues.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear the combined choirs of Liverpool’s two cathedrals in concert together.
Tickets can be booked here: www.ticketsource.co.uk/metcathedral
FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE: VOLUNTEER YOUR TEACHING TALENT!
Are you a retired or part time qualified teacher? If so, you could be part of the Cathedral’s Education Service team! Come and help hundreds of school children and young people to learn about this wonderful Cathedral.
‘It’s a joy to watch children be amazed by the sheer beauty of John Piper’s lantern of light and colour and be able to bring the Cathedral to life for the generations of the future’.

CAFOD: FIX THE FOOD SYSTEM CAMPAIGN
“God blessed them and said, ‘See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the earth and every tree with seed as its fruit; you shall have them for food,” [Gen. 1: 29]. CAFOD’s Parish Campaign is to ensure that small farmers who grow nearly half of the world’s food can continue to choose to use their own seeds and not be made dependent on huge seed corporations funded by the World Bank. We ask clergy and parishioners’ support by signing jointly a letter at the end of Mass from Salina, a small farmer from Bangladesh to the World Bank to address this abuse at their October meeting please. No further contact details needed. To find more, search cafod.org.uk/food, or contact CAFOD’s Colette or Ged via liverpool@cafod.org.uk.
ASLAND WAY PILGRIMAGE WALKS
the promise of better weather encourages us all to get out our walking shoes and discover more about our local area. Representatives from our churches have been working to put together a series of walks and two are based around Our Lady’s: A Tarleton Prayer Pilgrimage and a Tarleton Heritage Route. Leaflets are available from the porch / to download from our Facebook page.
HELP NEEDED
The advent of warmer weather means that weeds are beginning to make their annual unwelcome appearance along the paths around the church, at the back of the presbytery and around the car park. Please consider spending an hour or so – in the fresh air! – helping us to keep our church looking tidy, cared-for and inviting. The more, the merrier. (No prior experience needed!)
HOW TO DONATE TO THE CHURCH
Standing Orders – Many find this an easier alternative to trying to remember to bring cash along each week. Forms are available in the porch / from the Parish Office. You can determine the amount and when it is deducted each month. Please post the form to your bank.
Envelopes – easy, because they can be prepared before coming to church. They afford some ‘privacy’ for the amount donated. Please conact the Parish Office so that we can arrange this for you.
Cash / cheque donations each week and very gratefully received.
Gift Aid – Important Clarification: If you are a taxpayer then you can easily help the parish to claim 25% extra on top of every donation you make. Eg: a donation of £3 per week could become £3.75 and a donation of £5 per week would result in £6.25 going to the church. Filling in a simple form to register your name and address means we can claim an additional 25% of your gift. If you are able to help, please collect a form from the porch on your way out today, complete and return to the Parish Office.
THANK YOU for your continuing support and generosity in these very challenging times.
UKRAINE APPEAL – INTERNATIONAL AID TRUST IS NOW IN HESKETH BANK
The IAT has recently moved from its depot in Lostock Hall to Moss Lane – right on our doorstep! It’s now based at The Barn, behind the bungalow at 255 Moss Lane.
However, the move has meant that some volunteers are now unable to relocate due to transport difficulties. The new depot is open from 10am to 4pm every weekday and they would love to hear from anyone who can help out for a couple of hours every week (or every other week).
As well as dried and tinned foodstuffs, plus toiletries and especially sanitary products, they are also in need of torches (as a result of blackouts due to Russian bombing of power supplies.
They are always very grateful for donations, which can be taken directly to the Moss Lane depot, or you can leave them at church on a Sunday and we’ll take them along.
Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to find out more about this vital, life-saving work. Thank you.
PLEASE CONSIDER OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED IN YOUR PARISH
We are very grateful for offers of help already, with regards to gardening jobs and keeping the grounds of the church neat and tidy. Thank you!
However, there are still a number of opportunities for our parishioners to become a bit more involved in parish life and your help is both needed and much appreciated. Areas where help is needed include with the Little Church group on Sundays, singing with the choir, flower arranging, church cleaning, altar serving and some serious fund-raising. Help is welcome from all ages, and advice / training will be provided. Please contact the Parish Office by email or ring on Thursdays, in order to find out more.
MUSICAL TREAT FOR THE WEEK
Panis Angelicus – YouTube
Bread of Angels – the beautiful motet by Franck, seems an appropriate choice today on the feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
The girls’ choir does full justice to the lovely harmonies.

OFFERTORY DONATIONS
Many thanks to generous parishioners who have sent in donations to our churches. Your thoughtfulness is very much appreciated.
Instead of putting money in offertory envelopes each week, those who are able to make an offering are asked to complete a Standing Order Mandate for your bank, from either your parish office. We can email the document to you, if you wish, so that you can print off, complete and send to your bank.
Alternatively, you may still wish to write a cheque (payable to ‘Our Lady Help of Christians Church’ ) and post to the presbytery with a covering letter and one offertory envelope for gift aid purposes.
